TONNERRE CONFIDENTIEL: GHERASIM LUCA | ADRIAN GHENIE
Galerie Pauline Pavec is delighted to present the first in a new series of exhibitions that will explore the relationship between artists and writer-artists.
This series of exhibitions will demonstrate the influence of certain writers' fundamental artistic practices on entire generations of contemporary artists.
This series will also attempt to rediscover the profound works of personalities embodied by the desire to say, write and do. It will explore the importance of looking back at these different generations of artists.
The Tonnerre Confidentiel exhibition - which follows on from the France-Romania 2019 season - will be a formal encounter between the poetic, visual, mythical and avant-garde work of Gherasim Luca, of the Cubomanies, and the collages of Adrian Ghenie, the phenomenon painter of his generation.
The cubomania principle developed by Gherasim Luca is close to that of the Dadaist poem. It is a construction mechanism which, by cutting out a rearranged reproduction, allows a new vision to emerge. A work that refers directly to his poetry of stammering.
The Tonnerre Confidentiel exhibition will bring together two artists of Romanian origin who, from the second half of the twentieth century to the present day, have left their mark on the history of art, literature, the avant-garde and contemporary painting.
