LE PAS DE CÔTÉ DES AVANT-GARDES, JULIETTE ROCHE

L’exposition qui inaugure le nouvel espace de la galerie Pauline Pavec, est un solo show de l’artiste historique Juliette Roche. Intitulée Juliette Roche, le pas de côté des avant-gardes, cette exposition rétrospéctive permet ainsi la diffusion du travail de cette femme artiste, ayant pris part aux plus grandes avant-gardes du XXème siècle, elle est aussi une manière de faire découvrir ou redécourvir au public ce nouvel Estate.

 

Artiste inclassable, formée par Maurice Denis et Paul Sérusier, Juliette Roche épouse le cubiste Albert Gleizes en 1915. Elle vit entre Paris, New-York, Barcelone et le sud de la France et incarne la femme artiste du début du XXème siècle. Proche des plus grands artistes de son époque comme Marcel Duchamp ou Francis Picabia, elle a d’abord été Nabis, Cubiste puis prend part aux activités du groupe Dada. Son travail est redécouvert à la fin du XXème siècle et ses oeuvres sont emblématiques des révolutions artistiques de son époque.

 

« Pour nous, c’était une évidence d’inaugurer ce lieu avec une exposition emblématique de Juliette Roche, une artiste femme historique sur laquelle nous travaillons en sous-marin depuis des mois. Cette exposition permettra au public d’appréhender son oeuvre une première fois, avant les foires du printemps où nous la présenterons comme sur la Tefaf à Maastricht ou Art Paris. »
 
 
The opening exhibition of the new space of the Galerie Pauline Pavec is a solo show featuring the works of historic artist Juliette Roche. This retrospective exhibition aims to promote and showcase the work of this woman artist, who took part in the greatest avant-gardes of the 20th century. It is also be a way for the public to discover or rediscover this exciting new Estate.
 
An unclassifiable artist trained by Maurice Denis and Paul Sérusier, Juliette Roche married cubist Albert Gleizes in 1915. She lived between Paris, New York, Barcelona and the South of France, and epitomized the female artist of the early 20th century. Close to the greatest artists of her time, such as Marcel Duchamp and Francis Picabia, she was first a Nabis, then a Cubist, before taking part in the activities of the Dada group. Her work was rediscovered at the end of the 20th century, and is emblematic of the artistic revolutions of her era.

"For us, it was an obvious choice to unveil this space with an emblematic exhibition by Juliette Roche, a historic woman artist on whom we've been working on for months. This exhibition will give the public a first glimpse of her work, before the spring fairs where we will be showing it, such as Tefaf Maastricht and Art Paris."
